Since 2014, Ms. Rokita has assisted businesses seeking cannabis licensing applications, including an application for a medical marijuana cultivation facility license in Desert Hot Springs, CA, the first city in Southern California to legalize large-scale medical marijuana cultivation. Within her first year of practicing law, Amanda was one of the twelve attorneys chosen to participate in the Los Angeles Incubator Consortium Program, a partnership created among Southwestern Law School, UCLA School of Law, Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, local legal aid organizations and the Los Angeles County Law Library to support and assist law school graduates in starting their own solo, small firm, or non-profit practices. Incubator participants receive the infrastructure and basic training needed to start their own practice in order to serve the local community’s legal needs at an affordable cost. During law school, Amanda externed with the Los Angeles Law Library, where she drafted a step-by-step research guide on criminal record expungement, which is available at the Los Angeles Law Library. Ms Rokita is also a founding board member of Lawyers ACT (Lawyers and Communities Together), a non-profit organization which supports team-spirited solo lawyers working within communities on innovative community-lawyering projects and policymaking in the South Bay.
